God's Reason

GOD'S REASON

I don't know how to say it But somehow it seems to me

That maybe we are stationed Where God wants us to be.

That little place we're filling Is the reason for our birth

And, just to do the work we do He sent us down to earth.

If God had wanted otherwise I reckon He'd have made

Each of us a little different... Of a worse or better grade.

And since God knows and understands All things of land and sea

I fancy that He placed us here...Just where He wanted us to be.

Someimes we get to thinking As our labors we review...

That we should like a higher place With greater things to do.....

But we come to he conclusion When the envying is stilled....

That the post to which God has sent us Is the post He wanted filled.

The most beautiful of couples, Designed by the Master's plan

Are those who serve together... In any way they can.

And there isn't any service That we honestly can scorn

For it may be just the reason God allowed us to be born.

A little about me

I have been married to a career Navy man (now retired) for the past 42 years, and we have 2 grown, married daughters, and two beautiful little grandsons, born in 2008 and 2011. During our Navy days we lived all over...North Carolina, Washington, D.C., Virginia, Florida, Connecticut, Tennessee and South Carolina, in the U.S., and Wales in the U.K. We have lived here, longer than we have lived anywhere else since we got married, and will probably remain here until God takes us home.

Hobbies

I am the kind of person who likes to try my hand at almost any craft I see, and I tend to enjoy most of them. I will admit that I used to do a lot more crafting when our children were growing up, than I do now. These days, I lean more toward crocheting, making greeting cards, crossword puzzles and playing on the computer, in my spare time. However, I reserve the right to buy more crafting materials at any given time! I collect penguins, ducks, teapots and angels.
And, although I don't have a collection of them, I love lighthouses, too

You are a military wife if...
..you can unpack a house and have everything in place in 48 hours ** ..your husband's work and dress clothes cost more than yours do * ..you've changed more oil and mowed more lawns than your husband because he's never there to do it himself * ..you know that it's normal to light shoe polish on fire and that the best way to spit-shine boots is with cotton balls * ..you only write in pencil because EVERYTHING is subject to change* ..you have a larger selection of curtains than Wal-Mart does. * ..you mark time in duty stations, not years* ..you refer to friends not only by name but by the state that they live in * ..you know that "back home" doesn't mean at the house you live in now* ..you tear up when you hear "Proud to Be An American," even though you've heard it 50 times by now * ..you know that a 2 month separation IS short, no matter what your civilian friends say - 2 month separations are like weekend separations to you * ..you ALWAYS know when payday is and get ticked off if there are more than 2 weekends during that pay period, because you need to buy groceries * ..you show your military ID to the greeter at Wal-Mart * ..you don't have to think about what time 21:30 is * ..you can't remember the last time you saw a doctor who wasn't wearing BDUs * ..the local dry cleaner knows you by your first name * ..you find that a large number of your clothes and household items are olive drab or loam, even though you never planned it that way * ..you pick apart uniforms on TV and in the movies, even though you used to yell at your husband for doing the same thing * ..you've learned to sleep through the sounds of tanks, planes, helicopters and artillery simulators * ..you can hate military life but be terrified to leave it all in the same breath * ..you defend your lifestyle no matter how bad things get because you know there's no other life for you!
